Our trip to Bridlewood's True Sports Day was such a fun experience. Margaret Kellaway hosted this special event that included some special guests Mr. Hubley and two olympic atheltes as well as 5 fun activities.
Sekou Kaba spoke about his experiences with sport as a child and how it came about for him to become an Olympic hurdler. He shared with us his KABA KEYS:
K - Kind - be kind even to bullies because they are the ones that need it the most
A - Ask - don't be alone so ask for help
B - Believe - believe in yourself, believe and you can achieve
A - Adjust - when faced with a problem or controversy; you can't always be in control all the time but we can find ways to work through problems
Some other words of wisdom are "Competitors are our best friends because they push us to try harder."
Melanie McCann has been to 2 Olmpics as a modern pentathelete. Her 5 events are:
swimming, fencing, horse jumping, running and target shooting. She loves sports because when you fail you get to try again.
The 5 activitiies that students participated in were:
1. Meeting, asking questions to and getting autographs from Sekou and Melanie
2. Tug of Peace and 3 Person Race
3 Over - Under
