First students used their creative writing side and brainstormed ideas all about their stuffy's hobbies, likes, and other important information. Then, a great deal of effort was placed into writing paragraphs using that information. Measurement was the next focus. Students used rulers and measuring tapes and measured in cm all sorts of things on their stuffy (e.g. length of leg, width of paw) and then themselves. They even got to explore the concept of circumference. It was interesting to see the estimates that were made prior to the actual measuring. Here are some great photos of students' costumes of dressing up like they are 100 years old. They loved all the math and language activities that revolved around the number 100. Also, some photos were taken with "aging photo booth" app. Can you tell who they are? (A few more will be added tomorrow) |
