Boys and girls worked diligently and responsibly to create a used toy sale that kindergarten to grade 3 enjoyed shopping at. A great real life experience of coming up with an idea, planning, and executing it with lessons in advertising (posters, commercial writing and jingles as well as performing), money (what is a ``float``, totaling purchases, making change, counting coins to help younger students pay), and customer service. A job well done Grade 3! We only had 8 students today but boy were they busy. Donated toys were sorted and priced by the students. Some decided to make posters and posted in the primary and kinder pods. One student decided it was important to get teachers organized and so he wrote an email to send to teachers asking them to sign up for the time they wish to shop on Friday. A few other students created commercials with a common jingle and personalized messages to be performed by the entire class by small groups going door to door on Tuesday and Thursday. WOW!!!
It is wonderful to watch students working so well together creating such an important reminder of the coming of the Mesiah. Co-operating, compromising and sharing talents is a great way to prepare our hearts for Christmas. There are many different materials being used and various artistic methods coming out in this project as well.
